Looking for an excuse to escape to the San Juan Islands this fall? Here’s a very good one. On Saturday, November 11th the streets of Eastsound will be shut down for the first-ever Hops on the Rock Beer Festival. The residents of Orcas Island invite you to join them for a weekend of beer events, with the grand tasting taking place on Saturday afternoon from 11:00 – 5:00.

The Hops on the Rock is described as a weekend of drinking, dancing and NovemBEER events all across Orcas Island. Live music, local food, and beer from more than 20 breweries from across the region.

“We are thrilled to bring something like this to our Island”, says co-founder of the event and owner of Island Hoppin’ Brewery, Becca Gray. “To share our island culture with some of the best folks in the industry —and over some of the best beer around— is something we’ve long talked about. It’s exciting to see it finally come to life!”

Breweries involved include Airways Brewing, Aslan Brewing, Black Raven Brewing, Island Hoppin’ Brewing, Counterbalance Brewing, Crucible Brewing, Farmstrong Brewing, Sumerian Brewing, Chuckanut Brewery, Hellbent Brewing, and many more. See the list here. The brewers will showcase their talents alongside food from local chefs and music from Babycakes, a beloved Bellingham band.

Tickets are $25 the day of the event, but a limited number of tickets and packages are now available at pre-sale pricing. Available from the website at http://www.hopsontherock.com until October 31st. Act quickly, they are expected to go fast.

The Hops on the Rock Committee consists of local business persons; Jacob Linnes (Island Market), Becca Gray (Island Hoppin’ Brewery), Cole Sisson (Doe Bay Wine Company), Veronica San Martin (Orcas Events), Rick Hughes (Ray’s Pharmacy) and Regan Vaughn (Rosario Resort & Spa). They share the common belief that November is the most underrated time of the year to visit the island and that drinking beer is the most underrated excuse to do so. Look for great rates with event partners at Kenmore Air (http://www.kenmoreair.com), Rosario Resort & Spa (http://www.rosarioresort.com), and other local businesses.

Orcas Island is located in the San Juan Islands in the Northern Puget Sound. To learn more about the event visit the website at http://www.hopsontherock.com.
